Therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother's needs. It is also called a pregnancy massage. Pre-natal massage provides relaxation by relieving stress on joints, eases neck and back pain, helps you keep good posture, and provides flexibility to birthing muscles. Pre-natal massage also aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which keeps blood flowing to both the mother and the baby.
Carrying a baby inside you changes your center of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, meaning your pelvic joints are less stable, and it also changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward. Add to that the extra weight you're carrying and you may end up with an aching lower back.
There's nothing like a soothing massage to rub away the pains and strains of pregnancy, however you'll to avoid massage during the first three months of pregnancy as it may trigger dizziness and add to morning sickness. Through their moms, babies will benefit from an improved blood circulation, healthy tissue, flexible joints and muscles during the pregnancy and labor.
Our in house prenatal experts are Auriana, Dorothy, and Rachel. Prenatal massages are available in 60, 90, and 120 minute sessions. Our therapists recommend a 90 minute session for the optimal experience but every expecting mother is different and should go with their instinct on what they feel would make them most comfortable.
